這是一位名字叫做Justin的美國年輕人的故事。
他到全世界去冒險和旅行，最後抵達印度朝聖求道，跟隨他的印度導師上山，不幸在一條溪邊消失了蹤影，從此就再也沒有回來了。
話說在那六年前的2010年，Justin 在美國Miami的一家新創公司工作，做著做著，開始嚴肅思考起自己的人生。
結論是：他要做一個自己心目中的英雄(hero)。
‘He then listed qualities such a hero would possess: someone who is “strong, fast and fit” and lives “the old way,” a “world traveler” who is both an “expert at self protection and protection of others” and a student of meditation.’
他認為工作只是一個工具，是賺到路費的過程，讓他可以可以到全世界冒險和旅行，才是他要達成的終極目標。
所以他騎著摩托車橫越了美洲大陸，接著又到了南美，然後是菲律賓、泰國和尼泊爾等地。
他尋求旅程中的真實體驗，並將過程發佈在Instagram 上，吸引了不少忠實粉絲的關注。
2016年，他在喜馬拉雅山脈南麓有名的修道聖地死亡之谷(Parvati Valley)，在歷經山洞苦修冥想之後，Justin 往山上走，自此從人間消失，當時才35歲。
Justin 是有名的野外求生專家，他也以擁有大無畏的勇氣而聞名。
他曾經聽說，縱使從50英呎的樹上落下，如果能夠一路利用枝葉緩衝，就可以平安沒事，他居然就親自跑去去試了。
他錯過了一些枝葉，到了20英呎的高度，已經遍體鱗傷，在落地的時候，腦袋沒有撞到地上的石頭，幸運地化險為夷。
每年，當印度比較涼爽的雨季(monsoon)來臨的時， 死亡之谷Parvati Valley就湧進了大量修行求道的人。
跟據統計，在過去二十多年，在那裡共失蹤了二十多人。但是到死亡之谷的人，都強調他們前往那個偏遠的地方，是為了靜心。死亡非但沒有阻卻修行求道者的腳步，反而在某個程度那被視為一種可能的昇華，反而有著某種特別的吸引力。
作者是這樣總結Justin 敢於追求與嘗試的勇氣的：
“He sought the mountaintops and the clouds, the beauty and mystery and knowledge that appear only at the extremities of the world. At the pinnacles and peaks can lie fame and recognition and a sense of pride of achievement. And in those heady heights resides higher states, spiritual or physical or simply a clearing of the clouds—a fleeting sense of perspective as you are given a view of both the trail just climbed and the trail ahead. But there is much to be found along the hard path as well, in the act of moving upward and toward something bigger than ourselves, to somewhere closer to the heavens, from a place of darkness to a place of light.”
Justin 把他的人生，濃縮成精彩緊湊的35年，這是他的選擇。選擇用冒險和嘗試，活出了他自己心目中的英雄。
