1867<\/span>\u5e74\uff0c\u4e00\u8258\u7f8e\u570b\u7684\u4e09\u6845\u5e06\u8239\u7f85\u59b9\u865f\u5728\u53f0\u7063\u58be\u4e01\u4e03\u661f\u5ca9\u9644\u8fd1\u89f8\u7901\u6c88\u6c92\uff0c\u4e0a\u5cb8\u7684\u4eba\u88ab\u9f9c\u4ed4\u752a\u539f\u4f4f\u6c11\u8aa4\u4ee5\u70ba\u662f\u5165\u4fb5\u8005\uff0c\u7e3d\u5171\u6709<\/span>13<\/span>\u4eba\u906d\u5230\u6bba\u5bb3\u3002\u6709\u4e00\u4f4d\u7cb5\u7c4d\u83ef\u4eba\u6c34\u624b\u5016\u5b58\uff0c\u88ab\u8b77\u9001\u5230\u4e86\u6253\u72d7<\/span>(<\/span>\u9ad8\u96c4<\/span>)<\/span>\u3002\u82f1\u7c4d\u7832\u8266\u96a8\u5373\u524d\u5f80\u641c\u6551\uff0c\u770b\u6709\u6c92\u6709\u5176\u4ed6\u751f\u9084\u8005\uff0c\u7d50\u679c\u88ab\u539f\u4f4f\u6c11\u64ca\u9000\uff0c\u7121\u529f\u800c\u8fd4\u3002<\/span><\/p>\n

\u7f8e\u570b\u4eba\u5728\u6d77\u5916\u9047\u5bb3\uff0c\u662f\u570b\u969b\u6027\u7684\u5916\u4ea4\u4e8b\u4ef6\u3002\u7576\u6642\u7f8e\u570b\u5ec8\u9580\u517c\u53f0\u7063\u5730\u5340\u7684\u9818\u4e8b\u674e\u4ed9\u5f97<\/span>(Charles W. Le Gendre <\/span>\u4ea6\u7a31\u300c\u674e\u8b93\u79ae\u300d<\/span>)<\/span>\uff0c\u5411\u6e05\u5ef7\u63d0\u51fa\u56b4\u6b63\u7684\u6297\u8b70\u3002\u70ba\u4e86\u5e73\u606f\u722d\u7aef\uff0c\u6e05\u5ef7\u52c9\u70ba\u5176\u96e3\u5730\u6d3e\u53f0\u7063\u7e3d\u5175\u5289\u660e\u71c8\u7387\u9818\u6e05\u5175\u5357\u4e0b\uff0c\u548c\u674e\u4ed9\u5f97\u4e00\u8d77\u5230\u67f4\u57ce<\/span>(<\/span>\u8eca\u57ce<\/span>)<\/span>\uff0c\u8981\u5411\u9f9c\u4ed4\u752a\u539f\u4f4f\u6c11\u8a0e\u4e00\u500b\u516c\u9053\u3002<\/span><\/p>\n

At the request of Tauketok, the ruler of the eighteen tribes south of Liangkiau, and between the range of hills east of it and the Eastern Sea including the bay known as the Southern Bay of Formosa where the crew of the American bark Rover were murdered by the Koaluts, I, Charles W. Le Gendre, United States consul for Amoy and Formosa give this as a memorandum of the understanding arrived at between myself and the said Tauketok in 1867, the same having been approved by the United States Government and assented to, I believe by the foreign ministers at Pekin viz:<\/span><\/p>\n

Cast-aways will be kindly treated by any of the eighteen tribes under Tauketok. If possible, they are to display a red flag before landing.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ballast and water. – Vessels requiring supplies are to send a crew on shore, displaying a red flag, and must not land until a similar token has been shown from the shore, and then only at the spot indicated. They are not to visit the hills and villages, but, when possible, are to confine their visit to the Tuiahsockang, being the first stream on the east coast north of the southeastern cape of South Bay, and to the Toapangnack, to the west of the rock where the Rover’s crew were murdered, the latter being the better watering place in the northeast monsoon. Persons landing under other than these conditions do so at their own peril, and must not look, I believe, for protection from their government if molested by the natives, who in such case will not be held responsible for their safety. <\/span><\/p>\n
