The 650 Pandanus species of tropical Africa, South East Asia, and Oceania typically grow in humid coastal area, on islands and on coral atolls. Every bit as important in the Pacific islands as the coconut, they provide food, fiber, building materials, medicines, and shelter; they prevent coastal erosion and are planted to create windbreaks and to mark boundaries between properties. Often with prop roots\u2014a skirt of sturdy stilts around the base\u2014they are reminiscent of mangroves, although unrelated. The common name \u2018screw pine\u2019 derived from the spiral arrangement of leaves and the huge pineapple-shaped fruit of some species. Their tough, fibre leaves are sword-shaped, with sharply toothed edges; in New Caledonia, crows have learned to strip off barbed sections to use as tools for probing crevices and hooking insects larvae\u2014the most complex known non-human use of foraging tools anywhere in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u9732\u515c\u6a39\u5c6c(\u6797\u6295\u5c6c)\u7684\u690d\u7269\uff0c\u9577\u5728\u6f6e\u6fd5\u7684\u6d77\u5cb8\u3002\u548c\u6930\u5b50\u5c0d\u592a\u5e73\u6d0b\u8af8\u5cf6\u5dbc\u7684\u5f71\u97ff\u4e00\u6a23\uff0c\u5b83\u975e\u5e38\u6709\u7528\uff0c\u63d0\u4f9b\u4e86\u98df\u7269\u3001\u7e96\u7dad\u3001\u5efa\u6750\u3001\u85e5\u54c1\uff0c\u4e5f\u7528\u4f86\u906e\u98a8\u907f\u96e8\u3002\u5b83\u9632\u8b77\u6d77\u5cb8\u907f\u514d\u4fb5\u8755\uff0c\u53ef\u4f5c\u9632\u98a8\u6797\uff0c\u7a2e\u4f86\u7576\u4f5c\u571f\u5730\u7684\u754c\u7dda\u3002\u5b83\u88d9\u72c0\u7684\u5f37\u58ef\u652f\u67f1\u6839\uff0c\u6709\u82e5\u7d05\u6a39\u6797\u3002\u82f1\u6587\u4fd7\u540d\u300cscrew pine\u300d\u5c31\u662f\u6e90\u81ea\u5b83\u87ba\u65cb\u6392\u5217\u7684\u8449\u7247\u548c\u67d0\u4e9b\u54c1\u7a2e\u6709\u5de8\u5927\u7684\u9cef\u68a8\u578b\u679c\u5be6\u3002\u5b83\u5011\u9769\u8cea\u7684\u7e96\u7dad\u8449\u662f\u9577\u528d\u578b\uff0c\u5448\u73fe\u92b3\u92f8\u9f52\u7de3\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u5728\u5409\u91cc\u5df4\u65af\uff0c\u6709\u4e00\u7a2e\u53ebPandanus tectorius \u7684\u6797\u6295\uff0c\u679c\u5be6\u5167\u5074\u662f\u751c\u7684\uff0c\u6709\u6a58\u5b50\u548c\u8292\u679c\u7684\u5473\u9053\uff0c\u5bcc\u542b\u7dad\u751f\u7d20A\u548cC\uff0c\u662f\u7576\u5730\u4eba\u7684\u9ede\u5fc3\u98df\u7269\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u5728\u6771\u5357\u4e9e\uff0c\u6709\u7a2e\u53ebPandanus amaryllifolius \u7684\u6797\u6295\uff0c\u662f\u5229\u7528\u5b83\u767c\u51fa\u985e\u4f3c\u8349\u767c\u9175\u7684\u5473\u9053\u3002\u6cf0\u570b\u4eba\u7528\u6797\u6295\u8449\u7de8\u6210\u5c0f\u7c43\u5b50\u653e\u5165\u7a3b\u7c73\u4f86\u84b8\uff0c\u90a3\u7a2e\u5473\u9053\u5c31\u8dd1\u9032\u53bb\u4e86\u3002\u5b83\u4e5f\u4f7f\u5f97\u6797\u6295\u621a\u98a8\u86cb\u7cd5(pandan chiffon cake)\u5448\u73fe\u4e0d\u53ef\u601d\u8b70\u7684\u4eae\u7da0\u8272\u8abf\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u5728\u5df4\u5e03\u4e9e\u65b0\u5e7e\u5167\u4e9e\uff0cPandanus conoideus \u662f\u53ef\u4ee5\u98df\u7528\u7684\uff0c\u805a\u5408\u679c\u7d05\u8272\u9b5a\u96f7\u72c0\uff0c\u548c\u7537\u4eba\u7684\u5927\u817f\u4e00\u822c\u9577\u3002\u5207\u958b\u7528\u8449\u5b50\u5305\u8986\u70e4\u719f\uff0c\u6cb9\u6cb9\u7684\u679c\u5fc3\u52a0\u6c34\u7528\u624b\u63c9\u88fd\u5c07\u7a2e\u5b50\u5206\u958b\uff0c\u5c31\u5f97\u5230\u9999\u6fc3\u7684\u679c\u8089\u91ac\uff0c\u53ef\u505a\u70ba\u70f9\u716e\u98df\u7269\u7684\u8abf\u6599\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u65b0\u5e7e\u5167\u4e9e\u53e6\u5916\u4e00\u7a2e\u53ebPandanus julianettii \u7684\u6797\u6295\uff0c\u5b83\u7684\u5c0f\u6838\u679c\u6709\u4e2d\u6307\u90a3\u9ebc\u9577\uff0c\u5bcc\u542b\u6cb9\u8102\u548c\u86cb\u767d\u8cea\uff0c\u4ee5\u524d\u7576\u5730\u4eba\u6703\u96a8\u8457\u6797\u6295\u7684\u6210\u719f\u800c\u9077\u5f92\u524d\u5f80\u8993\u98df\u3002\u70ba\u4e86\u5b89\u64ab\u65b0\u7684\u6797\u6295\u6797\u7684\u60e1\u9748\uff0c\u4ed6\u5011\u9084\u767c\u5c55\u4e86\u4e00\u5957\u7d04\u4e00\u5343\u5b57\u7684\u8a9e\u8a00\u4f86\u9032\u884c\u6e9d\u901a\uff0c\u907f\u958b\u8b1b\u6216\u6697\u793a\u6797\u6295\u805a\u5408\u679c\u4e0d\u597d\u7684\u5b57\u773c\uff0c\u8b6c\u5982\uff1a\u6c34\u6c34\u7684(waterlines)\u3001\u5473\u9053\u4e0d\u597d\u3001(\u679c)\u8089\u8cea\u4e0d\u4f73\u7b49\u7b49\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The genus pandanus, largely unknown elsewhere, is embedded in the culture and lives of the people of Oceania. Perhaps most significant of all, sails of plaited pandanus leaves propelled the sea-going canoes of early voyagers who explored and populated the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
