\u201c\u2026\u2026We have to do climate. Now were doing pandemics and health. What else is there?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The answer is that these are the two major problems I think we need to put more resources into. Climate change and pandemics-including the possibility of an attack by bioterrorists are the most likely existential threats for humans. Fortunately, there are opportunities to make major progress on both of them in the next decade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For climate change, if we spend the next ten years developing green technologies, setting up the right financial incentives, and getting the right public policies in place, we can be on a path to net zero emissions of greenhouse gases by 2050. The news is even better for pandemics: Over the next decade, if governments expand their investments in research and adopt evidence-based policies, we can develop most of the tools we need to keep an outbreak from turning into a disaster. The amount of money required for pandemic preparedness is far less than what it will take to avoid a climate disaster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This cause may seem remote. It can be hard to feel that you have any ability to affect the course of a pandemic. A mysterious new disease is frightening, and it can also be frustrating, because it seems that we have so little power to do anything about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But there are things that each of us can do. Elect leaders who will take pandemics seriously and make good, science-based decisions when the time comes. Follow their advice about masking up, staying home, and keeping your distance when you’re out. Get vaccinated when you can. And avoid the misinformation and disinformation that flood social media: Get your information regarding public health practices from reliable sources, such as the WHO, the CDC in the United States, and its equivalent in other countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most of all, don’t let the world forget how awful COVID was. Do whatever you can to keep pandemics on the agenda- locally, nationally, internationally- so we can break the cycle of panic and neglect that makes them the most important thing in the world for a time, until we forget about them and go back to our daily lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We’re all eager to return to the way things were before, but there is one thing we<\/p>\n\n\n\n

cannot afford to go back to – our complacency about pandemics.\u201d*<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2026\u6211\u5011\u5fc5\u9808\u9762\u5c0d\u6c23\u5019\u8b8a\u9077\u7684\u554f\u984c\u3002 \u73fe\u5728\u5247\u5fc5\u9808\u9762\u5c0d\u6d41\u884c\u75c5\u5c0d\u6211\u5011\u5065\u5eb7\u7684\u5a01\u8105\uff0c\u90a3\u9ebc\u9084\u6709\u4ec0\u9ebc\u5176\u4ed6\u7684\u91cd\u8981\u7684\u4e8b\u9805\u4e5f\u9700\u8981\u6211\u5011\u7684\u6ce8\u610f\u5462\u5462\uff1f<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u7b54\u6848\u662f\uff0c\u9019\u662f\u6211\u8a8d\u70ba\u6211\u5011\u9700\u8981\u6295\u5165\u66f4\u591a\u8cc7\u6e90\u7684\u5169\u500b\u4e3b\u8981\u554f\u984c\u3002 \u6c23\u5019\u8b8a\u9077\u548c\u6d41\u884c\u75c5\u2014\u2014\u5305\u62ec\u751f\u7269\u6050\u6016\u5206\u5b50\u8972\u64ca\u7684\u53ef\u80fd\u6027\uff0c\u662f\u4eba\u985e\u751f\u5b58\u7684\u5a01\u8105\u3002 \u5e78\u904b\u7684\u662f\uff0c\u5728\u672a\u4f86\u5341\u5e74\u5167\uff0c\u5b83\u5011\u90fd\u6709\u6a5f\u6703\u53d6\u5f97\u91cd\u5927\u9032\u5c55\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u5c0d\u65bc\u6c23\u5019\u8b8a\u9077\uff0c\u5982\u679c\u6211\u5011\u5728\u672a\u4f86\u5341\u5e74\u5167\u81f4\u529b\u65bc\u958b\u767c\u7da0\u80fd\u6280\u8853\uff0c\u5236\u5b9a\u6b63\u78ba\u7684\u8ca1\u653f\u6fc0\u52f5\u63aa\u65bd\u548c\u516c\u5171\u653f\u7b56\uff0c\u6211\u5011\u5c07\u8d70\u4e0a\u52302050\u5e74\u5be6\u73fe\u6eab\u5ba4\u6c23\u9ad4\u6de8\u96f6\u6392\u653e\u7684\u6b63\u78ba\u9053\u8def\u3002 \u800c\u81f3\u65bc\u5c0d\u65bc\u6d41\u884c\u75c5\u4f86\u8aaa\uff0c\u72c0\u6cc1\u5c07\u66f4\u70ba\u6a02\u89c0\uff1a\u5728\u672a\u4f86\u5341\u5e74\u88e1\uff0c\u5982\u679c\u653f\u5e9c\u64f4\u5927\u7814\u7a76\u6295\u8cc7\u4e26\u57fa\u65bc\u5ba2\u89c0\u4e8b\u5be6\u505a\u6c7a\u7b56\uff0c\u6211\u5011\u53ef\u4ee5\u958b\u767c\u9632\u6b62\u75ab\u60c5\u6f14\u8b8a\u6210\u707d\u96e3\u6240\u9700\u7684\u5927\u591a\u6578\u5de5\u5177\u3002 \u9810\u61c9\u75ab\u60c5\u6240\u9700\u7684\u8cc7\u91d1\uff0c\u5c07\u9060\u9060\u4f4e\u65bc\u907f\u514d\u6c23\u5019\u707d\u96e3\u6240\u9700\u8981\u7684\u6295\u5165\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u9019\u500b\u76ee\u6a19\u53ef\u80fd\u770b\u8d77\u4f86\u5f88\u9059\u9060\u3002 \u5f88\u96e3\u611f\u89ba\u5230\u4f60\u6709\u4efb\u4f55\u80fd\u529b\u53bb\u5f71\u97ff\u75ab\u60c5\u7684\u767c\u5c55\u904e\u7a0b\u3002 \u4e00\u7a2e\u795e\u79d8\u7684\u6f5b\u5728\u65b0\u75be\u75c5\u4ee4\u4eba\u6050\u61fc\uff0c\u4e5f\u53ef\u80fd\u4ee4\u4eba\u6cae\u55aa\uff0c\u56e0\u70ba\u6211\u5011\u4f3c\u4e4e\u5e7e\u4e4e\u6c92\u6709\u80fd\u529b\u5c0d\u5b83\u505a\u4ec0\u9ebc\u4e8b\u60c5\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u4f46\u6709\u4e9b\u4e8b\u60c5\u6211\u5011\u6bcf\u500b\u4eba\u90fd\u53ef\u4ee5\u505a\u3002 \u9078\u8209\u51fa\u5c0d\u7684\u4eba\u4f86\u4e3b\u4e8b\uff0c\u8a8d\u771f\u5c0d\u5f85\u6d41\u884c\u75c5\u4e26\u9069\u6642\u57fa\u65bc\u79d1\u5b78\u6578\u64da\u505a\u51fa\u826f\u597d\u7684\u6c7a\u7b56\u3002\u5927\u5bb6\u4f9d\u7167\u898f\u5b9a\u6234\u597d\u53e3\u7f69\u3001\u6216\u7559\u5728\u5bb6\u88e1\uff0c\u4e26\u5728\u5916\u51fa\u6642\u4fdd\u6301\u793e\u4ea4\u8ddd\u96e2\u7b49\u7b49\u7684\u5efa\u8b70\u3002 \u5728\u53ef\u4ee5\u7684\u6642\u5019\u63a5\u7a2e\u75ab\u82d7\u3002 \u907f\u514d\u8aa4\u4fe1\u6cdb\u6feb\u5728\u793e\u4ea4\u5a92\u9ad4\u4e2d\u5404\u7a2e\u932f\u8aa4\u548c\u865b\u5047\u7684\u8cc7\u8a0a\uff1a\u5f9e\u53ef\u9760\u7684\u4f86\u6e90\u7372\u53d6\u6709\u95dc\u516c\u5171\u885b\u751f\u7684\u8cc7\u8a0a\uff0c\u5982\u4e16\u885b\u7d44\u7e54\u3001\u7f8e\u570b\u75be\u63a7\u4e2d\u5fc3\u4ee5\u53ca\u5176\u4ed6\u570b\u5bb6\u7684\u540c\u7b49\u6a5f\u69cb\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u76e1\u4f60\u6240\u80fd\u5c07\u6d41\u884c\u75c5\u5217\u5165\u8b70\u7a0b\u2014\u2014\u5728\u5730\u65b9\u4e0a\u3001\u570b\u5bb6\u7684\u5c64\u7d1a\u548c\u570b\u969b\u4e4b\u9593\u2014\u2014\u9019\u6a23\u6211\u5011\u5c31\u53ef\u4ee5\u6253\u7834\u6050\u614c\u548c\u5ffd\u8996\u6240\u5f62\u6210\u7684\u60e1\u6027\u5faa\u74b0\uff0c\u9019\u7a2e\u5faa\u74b0\u4f7f\u6d41\u884c\u75c5\u66ab\u6642\u6210\u70ba\u4e16\u754c\u4e0a\u6700\u91cd\u8981\u7684\u4e8b\u60c5\uff0c\u76f4\u5230\u6211\u5011\u5fd8\u8a18\u5b83\uff0c\u7d42\u65bc\u8fd4\u56de\u5230\u65e5\u5e38\u7684\u751f\u6d3b\u70ba\u6b62\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n
