“<\/span>Kangaroo Care is skin-to-skin contact between the mother and the preemie<\/span>,<\/span>like a baby kangaroo in its mother<\/span>’<\/span>s pouch. These babies need physical contact to bond<\/span>,<\/span>but studies also show that holding a preemie against her mother<\/span>’<\/span>s chest stabilizes her respiratory and heart rates. It conserves calories so the baby gains more weight<\/span>,<\/span>and it even regulates her body temperature. The mother acts as the incubators.<\/span>”<\/span>*<\/span><\/p>\n

The nursed told Brett how to do a Kangaroo Care on her newly born preemie while she was fulfilling one of those wishes she had made at fourteen years old<\/span>,<\/span>to have a baby. And she need to completes those unfulfilled ones in a year in order to receive inheritance according to her mother<\/span>’<\/span>s will.<\/span><\/p>\n

The wishes Brett made at fourteen year old are:<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

1. Have a baby<\/span>,<\/span>maybe two<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Kiss Nick Nicol<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Make the cheerleading squad <\/span><\/p>\n

4. Earn straight A<\/span>’<\/span>s<\/span><\/p>\n

5. Ski the Alps<\/span><\/p>\n

6. Get a dog<\/span><\/p>\n

7. Answer correctly when Sister Rose calls on me and I<\/span>’<\/span>m talking to Carrie <\/span><\/p>\n

8. Go to Paris<\/span><\/p>\n

9. Stay friends with Carrie Newsome forever <\/span><\/p>\n

10. Go to Northwestern <\/span><\/p>\n

11. Be super friendly and nice<\/span><\/p>\n

12. Help poor people<\/span><\/p>\n

13. Have a real cool house <\/span><\/p>\n

14. Buy a horse <\/span><\/p>\n

15. Run with bulls<\/span><\/p>\n

16. Learn French<\/span><\/p>\n

17. Fall in love <\/span><\/p>\n

18. Perform live<\/span>,<\/span>on a super big stage<\/span><\/p>\n

19. Have a good relationship with my dad<\/span><\/p>\n

Her mother had crossed item 2<\/span>,<\/span>3<\/span>,<\/span>4<\/span>,<\/span>5<\/span>,<\/span>7<\/span>,<\/span>8<\/span>,<\/span>10<\/span>,<\/span>11<\/span>,<\/span>15<\/span>,<\/span>and 16<\/span>,<\/span>either because it had already been fulfilled or not been allowed to do. So Brett needs to achieve item 1<\/span>,<\/span>6<\/span>,<\/span>9<\/span>,<\/span>12<\/span>,<\/span>13<\/span>,<\/span>14<\/span>,<\/span>17<\/span>,<\/span>18<\/span>,<\/span>19<\/span>,<\/span>and 20<\/span>,<\/span>within one year<\/span>,<\/span>before the next September.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

To fall in love<\/span>,<\/span>to have a baby and to raise a horse? And within a year! How crazy the list looks like. Those are wishes we may make when we are small or young while our imagination had less constraints by reality.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

However the story is less on what and how wishes are realized but more on how a 34-year-old daughter can discover herself by following her mother<\/span>’<\/span>s will to complete the wish list which she had made 20 years ago.<\/span><\/p>\n
